At Unified, we are committed to providing safe, reliable, and compassionate non-emergency medical transportation to individuals with special needs, seniors, students, and other community members. Our mission is rooted in the belief that transportation should never be a barrier to care and our drivers are the front-line champions of that mission.
Stockton Unified School District serves over 37,000 students and needed a partner who understood the unique needs of transporting special education students safely, compassionately, and consistently. Past solutions using multiple providers led to inconsistent service and frequent complaints from parents. Delays, last-minute changes, and undertrained drivers left the district overwhelmed.
That changed when Stockton USD partnered with Unified, whose vehicles are tailored for students with developmental disabilities. Every driver is CPR and First Aid certified and receives defensive driving and disability awareness training. Routes are created and managed by Unified, reducing administrative load for the district.
Kathryn Baggese, Director of Transportation, notes that Unified not only handles the logistics but actively engages with families to build trust. “Parents used to call daily with concerns now, I rarely get calls. They trust Unified.”
Because Unified’s dispatch center is available 24/7 and families can track their students in real-time, both the school and the parents feel supported. With student safety, comfort, and timeliness prioritized, the district regained peace of mind.
